Skul: The Hero Slayer

The human race attacking the Demon King's castle is nothing new and has happened countless times before. What makes this time different though, is that the Adventurers decided to join forces with the Imperial Army and the “Hero of Caerleon” to lead a full onslaught in hopes of wiping out the Demons once and for all. They attacked the Demon stronghold with overwhelming numbers and succeeded in its total destruction. All of the demons in the castle were taken prisoner except for one lone skeleton named “Skul”.

“Skul: The Hero Slayer” is an action-platformer that boasts rogue-like features such as everchanging and challenging maps. It will keep you on your toes, as you will never know what to expect.

Skul is no ordinary skeleton, Skul is a member of the Demon's Guard. In addition to his formidable fighting skills, he can gain new and exciting abilities depending on which skull he's wearing. Use up to 2 skulls at a time, each of which has its own unique attack range, speed and power. Choose combos that match your playing style and switch them in the heat of battle to bring your enemies to their knees. The power is in your hands!

Skul has crossed paths with a party of Adventurers! They are powerful foes that hunt Demons for sport. While Skul may be small, he still packs quite a punch. So just wait and see who really is the hunter and who is the hunted...

At the end of every chapter, go head-to-head with massive bosses corrupted with Dark Quartz and powerful beyond belief. Derived from the pain and hate of life itself, Dark Quartz taints and takes control of everything it touches.

  • Exciting and fast-paced battles
  • Dozens of undead character combos & abilities
  • The unmatched thrills of a rogue-lite game
  • Fantastical pixel art graphics

Great game takes about an hour to learn the main mechanics and to understand how to progress, the rarity system, and the currency. It is overall one of the top rouge like game that I have played would recomend.

Although there is a big learning curve for each of the areas, this is one of the best games I have played. Not because of the story, but because of the bosses, combat, and skulls.

I thought this game was lovely. It happens to be one of the more notable roguelikes I've played and I haven't met another fan of this wonderful experience. I recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Dead Cells, Noita, Astral Ascent, or Risk Of Rain.
Skul: The Hero Slayer, I believe, is a genre defining action roguelike. There is a narrative carried throughout the game and a cast of characters who actually feel important. Has A WHOLE LOT of different playstyles and builds to make every run different from the last. And there's a hot spider lady.

Didn't even noticed that I was already playing 10hrs. As a fan of Dead Cells, Hades, and other Rouge-like games this is a must play. The gameplay loop revolves around the skulls you get every new run and it's addicting.

Alexander, Emperor of Carleon was one of the best boss designs in gaming history great job. I had so much fun while beating him.

As much as I love this game and want to rate it well, the binary system doesn't allow me to do that while being fair to how I actually feel. It has a bit too many flaws for me to actually recommend it. A few bullet points would be:
- The Nun feels terrible to fight in multi-boss fights, as she has the ability to heal the bosses including herself, making the fight take much longer than it should and making it feel sluggish and unenjoyable, even if you target her first.
- A very minor one, but the normal binding for the details and quintessence is X, which closes the menu, meaning to look at the details of a skill or item you need to rebind the button. Which shouldn't be needed to access a base feature.
- Most of the mini-game rooms feel pretty bad to play through, as the normal gameplay is very enjoyable and well made, all the mini-game rooms do is make you play through something the game was clearly not designed for and take you away from the gameplay you're there for.

Very enjoyable game that offers many unique ways to play the game and has very high replay-ability, bugs are semi common, but this jank is largely cosmetic or avoidable, I love this game and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who enjoys rougelikes/rougelites (Especially to those who have played and enjoyed dead cells)

Fun game! Unique areas, challenging bosses, and fast-paced gameplay. The story is short and sweet; don't skip the cutscenes! There are lots of different skulls to try and enjoy! This game is hard; get ready to die a lot! There is an assist mode for those who need it.
